BROADWAY TO AUSTRALIA is a unique partnership between The University of Tasmania, Conservatorium of Music and The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).  The initiative, created by Michael A. Kerker, Director of Musical Theatre at ASCAP, and Kevin Purcell, Australian Musical Director and Conductor, enables for the first time in Australia, real development and collaboration opportunities for writers and performers of commercial musical theatre, cabaret and contemporary popular music to learn from and engage with Broadway’s most illustrious creative practitioners.

Tony Award winners and two-time Academy Award nominees Lynn Ahrens (Lyricist) and Stephen Flaherty (Composer) will make their first visit to Australia between September 4 – 13, 2009.  The major events as part of this tour will be concerts in Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney that celebrate the triumphs of their work that include: Ragtime, Seussical, Anastasia, A Man Of No Importance, Once On This Island, Dessa Rose, My Favourite Year, The Glorious Ones and The Dancer’s Life For Chita Rivera.
